Dark Eldar at the Realm RTT

Well the Realm RTT has come and gone and once again I had a blast.  There's always a great mix of opponents there ready to have fun and take your game to the limit.  There was a fairly good mix of armies there too with 3 Orks, 2 Dark Eldar, 2 Blood Angels, 1 Tyranid, 1 Eldar, 1 Daemonhunter, 1 Imperial Guard and 1 Chaos.

My army was:
Succubus - 85 (agonizer)
Haemonculi (stinger pistol, venom blade) - 60

3 Trueborn (3 blaster) - 156 (Venom +SC, NS)
3 Trueborn (3 blaster) - 156 (Venom +SC, NS)
3 Trueborn (3 blaster) - 156 (Venom +SC, NS)

10 Wracks (acothyst, 2 liquifier) - 210 (Raider FF, NS)
10 Wracks (acothyst, 2 liquifier) - 210 (Raider FF, NS)
8 Wyches (agonizer) - 190 (Raider FF, NS)
5 Warriors (blaster) - 125 (Venom +SC)
5 Warriors (blaster) - 125 (Venom +SC)

1 Ravager - 125 (FF, NS)
1 Ravager - 125 (FF, NS)
1 Ravager - 125 (FF, NS)

Total: 1,848

This list is becoming pretty familiar for me.  It has the same elements as my 2,000 point list, only I dropped Vect for a Succubus.  I also filled out the Wrack squads with Liquifiers, dropped the Agonizers and added in some additional vehicle upgrades.

The three armies I faced were:
Mike's Kan Wall Orks (9 Killa Kanz, 2 Big Meks, 2 Deff Dreadz)
Chris M's Battlewagon Orks (Ghaz, Big Mek, 5 Battlewagons)
Erick's Imperial Guard (Hydras, Manticores, Vendettas, oh my!)

I'll be looking to post some more details about my opponents, their army lists and the games sometime this week.  All in all it was a great tournament - thanks to my opponents for the games!

  1. Hi,

Very nice list. I'm really looking forwards to battle reports. Apart from the 180 points of vehicle upgrades your list is very similar to my 1750 list.

How did you find the vehicle upgrades (considering you could have another unit for 180 points) ?

I'm also interested to hear how the Trueborn and wracks did.

  2. Night Shields are great against some of the mid-range S6+ weaponry and it prevents rapid firing from any real range. My first opponent had 18" range guns on his Kans, effectively limiting him to 12" range, which combined with footslogging makes for quite an uphill battle.

Night shields also help mitigate first turn strikes from your opponents. Even against Long Fangs and the like you can set up far enough away to ensure you won't lose anything to them.

Flickerfields have their uses. By stopping 1/3 of your enemy's fire, your effectively making your vehicle 1/3 more survivable.

I'd opt for vehicle upgrades over an additional unit every time. They just make the army much more survivable.
